Field studies
My work has a strong emphasis on drawings done in the field, which enable me to connect with a tree in its setting, getting a 360° perspective. I will focus on areas that display evidence of damage or disease, or patches of light that bring the forms into strong relief. I then use these sketches and photographs to inform the studio pieces.
