‘Time Made Wood’ - Drawings and mixed media works inspired by ancient trees from artist Tansy Lee Moir.

Gallery 3, art’s complex, St Margaret’s House, 151 London Road, Edinburgh Preview 18th November, exhibition runs 19th – 27th November 10.00am – 7.00pm

‘Time Made Wood’ is Tansy Lee Moir’s first solo show, featuring works which will make you look at trees in a whole new way. This selection of charcoal and mixed media images focuses on the way trees become a solid representation of time, responding to external forces in three dimensional living forms.

She is interested in the ancient, deformed, scarred and defaced, rather than portrait perfect specimens, and the ambiguity of these images provokes individual responses from the viewer. The dramatic charcoal drawings suggest the human form, whilst the more colourful mixed media pieces refer to the silent and shaded environment of deep woodland, their subtle use of tone and dynamic composition aiming to convey the totemic power of the subject.
