About

I wear a number of 'hats' professionally, working in the community arts, community development and fine art fields.

Originally from Matlock in Derbyshire, I moved to Edinburgh in 1994 when I began my practice as a community artist. Being trained in both Three Dimensional Design and Community Education, I have combined these disciplines to produce participative projects and events. At the heart of my approach is the belief that everyone is capable of creativity, both in their thinking and actions, and that creativity is an essential component of community development.

I have a studio at Edinburgh's art's complex, where I'm currently developing new work based on ancient trees.

My hobbies include camping in Scotland's wild and beautiful places and hunting for edible fungi and other wild foods.
