Clients
Projects (and budgets) come in all shapes and sizes and I've worked with a wide range from the voluntary and public sector, including:
- West Lothian Community Planning Partnership
- Action For Children Tullibody Centre
- West Lothian Council Arts Unit
- Queen Margaret University
- Falkirk Community Planning Partnership
- Argyll & Bute Council
- West Lothian Council Adult Basic Education
- Granton Youth Centre
- Camphill Blair Drummond
- Mayfield Community House
- RNID
- Queensferry Primary School
- Sure Start
- Scottish Youth Housing Network
- YWCA
It's really important to me that the client gets the very best they can within their resources, so I put effort into developing an accurate brief to begin with, before exploring the options. Sometimes clients know exactly what they need, others have only a vague idea to start with and I'm happy to work with either of these. I also encourage clients to be realistic about what is achievable – it's easy to get carried away when you're being creative, but I make sure that plans are delivered too.
Comments from some clients
Elaine Nisbet, Manager Adult Basic Education, West Lothian Council:
"Tansy was vital to the success of our projects; she took the time to listen to what we wanted, built excellent relationships with clients and co-workers, created imaginative and engaging resources to capture students' interest and, importantly, worked to deadlines. The end results speak for themselves."
George Scott, Public Health Nurse, NHS Lothian:
"Tansy is an exemplary professional. I have been fortunate to work with Tansy over the last few years in various settings, working with all age groups within the community. Tansy supports other professionals and the community to explore alternative ways to investigate and tackle issues. From leading professional partnerships to address local early years issues to working around art projects to support members of the community to explore the issue of domestic abuse, Tansy does this with great skill and enthusiasm that helps projects move forward.
Her ability to take an idea and make it real through word, picture or action is amazing and how this can promote and enable community engagement is beyond belief. I know Tansy has influenced the practice of others and my own. I now consider alternative ways of working with the community looking to art and other non traditional mediums inspiration and methods.
Thank you, Tansy for widening our horizons and supporting our endeavour to tackle health improvement and address health inequalities. "
Karen Cawte, Community Planning Manager, West Lothian Council:
"Tansy brought a new slant to engaging with communities, and her attention to detail and meticulous planning helped us to achieve a robust engagement. The use of visual materials helped people to think "outside the box" and consider a complex issue in simple ways."
Eurig Scandrett, Lecturer Sociology, Queen Margaret University:
"We were delighted with how the banner turned out and were proud to take it on the procession."
Julia Priestley, Arts Development Officer, West Lothian Council:
"I feel it's a very powerful method of engaging people, especially some of the harder to reach groups/individuals"
