Development
Although I'm passionate about the benefits of using the arts in communities, I know it's not the only tool in the box – there are many other skills involved in achieving change.
Having studied Community Education at post graduate level, I've gained a wider knowledge of the theory and practice of community development. I've been able to put this to work in full time posts and freelance work by:
- building capacity in communities and organisations
- co-ordinating multi-agency projects
- running informal education programmes
- organising and publicising events
- motivating and supporting participants
- gaining the trust and commitment of staff and volunteers
- developing productive partnerships
- managing projects and budgets
I currently work part time as Community Development Worker at Broxburn Family Centre, West Lothian.
