Development

Although I'm passionate about the benefits of using the arts in communities, I know it's not the only tool in the box – there are many other skills involved in achieving change.

Having studied Community Education at post graduate level, I've gained a wider knowledge of the theory and practice of community development.  I've been able to put this to work in full time posts and freelance work by:

  • building capacity in communities and organisations
  • co-ordinating multi-agency projects
  • running informal education programmes
  • organising and publicising events
  • motivating and supporting participants
  • gaining the trust and commitment of staff and volunteers
  • developing productive partnerships
  • managing projects and budgets

I currently work part time as Community Development Worker at Broxburn Family Centre, West Lothian.
