Community is everything. We know ourselves in relation to others, respond to our peers through our work, make and share to be part of a wider conversation. The creative community I’ve found has been central to my recent artistic development, but before I made drawings about trees, I worked for two decades as a community artist and project worker, so I’ve seen first hand how having a strong community supports us.
The inspiring team behind the Drawing (Paper) Show have created the Directory of Drawing Artists (DoDA), gathering a community of ‘draw-ers’ together, and I’m very pleased to have been invited to be part of it.
‘DoDA is a searchable directory that allows people to find artists who specialise in, or who exhibit, drawings. It’s open to artists who have exhibited in the Drawing (Paper) Shows and provides a platform for their work.’
A big thanks to Colette Lilley, Sarah Richardson and Jon Barraclough for their vision and generosity in making this happen – I look forward to seeing it continue to build this year.
If you love drawing, look up the Drawing (Paper) Show website and have a wander through the diverse and exciting range of drawing artists on the DoDA!
